10 Tips for Pleasant Garden Design

A garden design must be a friendly environment where you can fully relax. After installation, an atmospheric design is therefore crucial. How you dress your garden design exactly depends on, among other things, the available space and your taste. The following 10 tips for a lovely garden design can help you on your way:

1) Effectiveness in the small garden

Small gardens are often seen in cities and densely populated areas. Ink and shadow are usually the problems when decorating such a garden. Insight can be countered by placing a pergola with climbers. Do not make the mistake of filling up a small garden completely. Choose beautiful long plants that can withstand shade and place them against the walls as much as possible.

You can make the small garden just as exciting by applying a height difference.

2) Relax in the Rock garden

Another name of the rock garden is Zen Garden. The garden furniture here contains many Eastern elements. Plants that certainly belong in a Zen garden are bonsai, bamboo and moss. The red Japanese maple and rhododendrons are also great ideas.

In this garden, stones are the most important. These can be, for example, stacked boulders, or a field of white pebbles. The gravel paths are raked in elegant forms. Of course, running water, for the ultimate feeling of peace, can not be missed in the spiritual Zen garden.

3) The front garden is the calling card of your home

Visitors and passers-by are the first to notice your front yard. For that reason alone, a front yard is the calling card of your house. Of course, it is also just a nice job to create a nice front garden and to arrange it pleasantly.

First, think about what you use the front yard for. Will you never come? Try to keep it maintenance-friendly, for example with lots of paving. Do you like to also garden in the front yard? Then choose a good distribution between paving and green. Make sure that the colours of the pavement match the colour of the house. High planting is nice to counter, but you can not look outside yourself.

4) Variety in the large garden

In a large garden, you have a lot of space, and that offers many possibilities for garden design. You can calmly plant large plants. Take especially perennials with a long lifespan that require little maintenance. If you have children and animals, you should not miss a beautiful lawn.

In a large garden, you can very well create different parts. Think for example of several terraces or a romantic corner. A pond has also been laid out in many large gardens.

5) Create depth in the extensive garden

Most gardens are long and deep, but what if your garden is wide and shallow? Setting up an extensive garden is mainly a matter of creating depth. Do not place a wall or large hedge at the end of the garden, because it will come to you. Always keep fences neutral in colour, or try to interrupt them with green.

An important point is you do not plant the garden too full, because the garden seems smaller. You also create depth by working with diagonals, for example by creating a sloping path.

6) The narrow garden

In a narrow garden, it is the art to make it appear wider. A narrow garden is often long. You can interrupt this length by dividing your garden into different sections.

The length can also be disrupted by, for example, creating a winding garden path. Circles always do well in the narrow garden. Round planters or around terrace are two examples. If you create height differences in the narrow garden, you also place less emphasis on the length of the garden. By planting tall plants and trees, you emphasise the height and not the length of the garden.

7) A garden arrangement with an eye for animals

Do you want to enjoy butterflies, bees and bumblebees in your garden? Or are you more of a bird lover? To attract animals, planting is important. Maintain a ratio of one-third paving and two-thirds of planting.

As a planting, you choose a lot of flowers with pollen and, for example, a butterfly bush to attract insects.

8) The English cottage garden

A cottage garden is characterised by lush vegetation and has a particularly messy garden design. An English cottage garden is a mix of different types of gardens: a vegetable garden, a nursery and a hobby garden. Also in the cottage garden a dining terrace, a greenhouse (you) and a garden shed cannot be missed. It is therefore quite busy in this garden, but you feel completely in the English countryside.

As planting, you choose at least roses and hydrangeas. Hanging baskets, a pergola or a rose arch complete the cottage garden.

9) Experience the holiday feeling thanks to a Mediterranean garden design

You create a warm, summery atmosphere in your Mediterranean garden. This starts with the pavement, where you choose the Tuscan colours: red, brown, peach and yellow. Choose colourful and fragrant flowers that you plant in terracotta pots, except in borders. Lavender should not be missed, but jasmine and magnolia can also be very good in the Mediterranean garden.

This garden also contains herbs such as rosemary, basil and thyme at home. To complete the Mediterranean atmosphere, you can plant plants like hardy palms, cypresses, agave, citrus and olive trees.

10) A garden device that requires little maintenance

Do not have green fingers or little time, but do you want a nice garden? Then choose the maintenance-friendly garden. This garden has a lot of ground cover plants and plants that you do not need to prune. Weeds can be slowed down by sprinkling tree bark among the plants.

Remember that you take a not too large lawn because grass still needs a lot of maintenance. It is better to take a small piece of grass together with some more borders and shrubs. Artificial grass can also possibly be an option.
