Apple adds street painting Black Lives Matter to the maps app
Apple has already added a satellite photo to Apple Maps of the street painting with the words “Black Lives Matter” in the US capital Washington.
On Friday, June 5, part of the street leading to the White House was renamed Black Lives Matter Plaza. The words “Black Lives Matter” are painted on the street in huge yellow letters. The satellite photo of the street with painting has already been added to Apple Maps.
It is a cut-out photo of the words, which has been added to the existing satellite photo of the city, discovered app researcher Jane Manchun Wong. Normal road traffic can still be seen on the edges of the words, while the streets around the White House are currently blocked. Presumably, the photo was added to Apple Maps outside of the normal satellite image update schedule.
