Director Inter fears that series A will not be cancelled by corona
Director Giuseppe Marotta of Inter fears that the series A cannot be completed this season by the coronavirus. Due to the virus outbreak in northern Italy, five games have been postponed this weekend in the Italian league. Also, the top Sunday between Inter and Juventus is cancelled.
“If more competitions have to be cancelled later, we certainly run the risk of not being able to finish the competition,” Marotta expressed concern in the Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport. He also believes that the “balance of the championship has changed” because some games have been cancelled and others have not. “It is a distorted competition. You should not only think of injuries and suspensions. There is now also the psychological aspect when you look at the rankings.”
He also wonders how things should go with the upcoming Inter game against Sassuolo. “How do we deal with that? We cannot play behind closed doors, because it would be absurd to do that one week and not the other. I see no solution.”
