Tennis player Rafael Nadal has qualified for the quarterfinals of the clay tournament in Barcelona with a changeable performance. The first-seeded Spaniard needed three sets to beat the Japanese Kei Nishikori. After a great first set (6-0), Nadal got lost in the second set (2-6). However, he managed to recover well in the third set (6-2).

Nadal (34) plays in the quarterfinals against Briton Cameron Norrie. The number 58 in the world was at the expense of eighth-placed David Goffin in the last eight. The Belgian had to give up the fight in the second set due to physical complaints. He was leading 5-3 at the time. Goffin had lost the first set 6-0.

Second-placed Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Australian Alex de Minaur in straight sets: 7-5 6-3. He will face Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals.
