Twitter warns Android users of security vulnerability
Twitter warns Friday in a blog post about a vulnerability in their Android app. The leak has since been resolved, but Twitter strongly advises users to update the app to the latest version.
Due to the vulnerability, it was possible for malicious parties to view users’ non-public account information, such as private messages, and even to take over the account altogether.
“We have no evidence that the vulnerability has been exploited,” writes Twitter. “But we cannot be sure of this, so we are taking extra precautions.”
Twitter sends users exposed to the leak via mail or the Twitter app instructions they can follow to protect the app better. The company advises users to follow these instructions as quickly as possible and to update the application to the latest version.
iOS users are not exposed to the leak.
